Discover the new taste horizons of the Nikkei concept
The story of Nikkei began in 1908, when the first immigrants from Japan came to Brazil to work as laborers on coffee plantations. The community gradually grew, and today there are about a million and a half descendants of Japanese immigrants living in Brazil, the largest population outside of Japan.
The largest number of Nikkei restaurants still exist in and around São Paulo, where nearly half of the Japanese community lives. There's a Japanese restaurant on practically every corner - you can try sushi, ramen, miso soup or Udon noodles.
